Crack & Level Monitoring

Crack monitoring

Crack Monitoring is the precise measurement of a crack using a set of digital callipers measuring to a one hundredth of a millimetre. Crack monitoring is cost effective and has a simple installation process. It is suited to short and medium term projects and is excellent for buildings that only require low frequency visits. Repeat visits over a period of time may highlight a pattern in changing crack width or building stability.

Level Monitoring

Level monitoring is more expensive than crack monitoring but can provide more in-depth results. Level monitoring points are fixed to a building footprint and act as fixed markers that will move with the building. Each monitoring point is referenced to a datum point so we can determine when and by how much the individual points move. Datum points can vary depending on site conditions and can include unaffected areas of the building, sewer drains of a good depth or an installed deep datum usually to a minimum of 6-8m.
