How long will the monitoring last?

Level and crack monitoring is carried out to assess the movement of a building through the changing seasons; readings are normally taken for at least 12 calendar months. You should discuss the monitoring plan with your claims handler if you have any queries.

How will my property be repaired? Will I need to move out whilst they are complete?

Fastrack do not make a decision on whether or not to repair; we provided factual data to your claims handler in order for them to make an informed decision.

Who do I need to contact to find out the results of our surveys?

If you have instructed the survey directly will forward the report to you once testing is complete. If Fastrack have been appointed by your insurer, you should contact the insurer directly to discuss the findings.

Is my property safe to live in?

Fastrack Site Investigations provide geotechncial services, your insurer or structural engineer will assess the stability of the building. You should contact your insurer directly with any concerns.

How long will the surveyor be here?

Site Investigations normally take between 1 and 3 hours depending on the number of borehole and trial pits required.

When will I receive the report?

Reports are issued to the insurer or claims manager once laboratory testing is complete. This is normally within 14 days.

I am building an extension and the council have said I need a survey can you provide this?

Yes. Please ask your builder or engineer to confirm the details required and we can provide a quote for a preplannig survey.

Do you provide Phase I & Phase II surveys?

Yes, we can arrange Phase I & II surveys.

I am building a new building, why have you charged the full rate VAT on my invoice?

HMRC VAT Notice 708 details when services may be zero rated or reduce rated for VAT.
Site Investigations do not normally qualify as being made 'in the course of construction' under section 3 for zero rating the construction of new buildings, as they are carried out prior to planning permission being granted.
Professional services, such as those provided by architects, surveyors, consultants and supervisors are not considered a 'qualifying service' under section 8 for reduced rating for empty buildings.

Will the investigation locations be made good?

We reinstate the trial hole and borehole locations to match the existing surface as closely as possible. Sometimes a temporary reinstatement is needed, particualarly when there is a specialist surface, this is to make the site safe until the final repairs are completed.
